Santa Maria High School sought to add a three story, 88,000 square foot building housing 50 classrooms, a new administration area, and a bell tower. The nearly $60 million dollar expansion project at a Central Coast high school would allow it to eliminate most of the portable classrooms it’s been using in recent years to house students.

The Project:

Santa Maria High School 50 Classroom Building & Renovations

The Work

Preconstruction services included constructability and value engineer review at various phases of design for this new 90,910 SF building. Pre-construction services were procured through an RFP process by the District. Construction started in January 2021 and consists of a three-story 50 Classroom and Administration Building with state-of-the-art laboratory spaces, modern classroom finishes and technologies for the next generation of high school student learning.

Extensive sitework, structural steel, underground utilities, complex structural concrete, framing, and foundation work was self-performed by ECG. Project is on budget and on schedule to be completed in the Summer 2023.
