Our team recently completed a significant project at Oak Valley Elementary School in Buellton, proudly delivering a set of new transitional kindergarten (T-K) classrooms. This project was in line with California’s “preschool for all” initiative, aimed at providing pre-K education for 4-year-olds by the end of the 2025-26 school year.

As the general contractor, Edwards Construction Group broke ground on this important expansion in January. The project included the construction of two state-of-the-art classrooms, shared restrooms, a teachers’ workroom, and a dedicated storage area. This initiative was crucial in responding to the increased demand for T-K education following the state’s mandate announced in 2021.

Our team worked diligently to ensure the new facilities were ready for the beginning of the academic year. The project’s success is a testament to our commitment to high-quality construction and our ability to meet the specific needs of educational institutions. The T-K program, which began in the 2022 academic year, now serves 44 students in three classrooms, each led by a pair of educators.

The completion of the project was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 24, attended by local officials, community leaders, and members of the school community. Edwards Construction Group was honored to be part of this event, which also recognized the contributions of various partners, including a significant grant from First 5/CommUnify for classroom furnishings.

Superintendent Randal Haggard of the Buellton Union School District expressed excitement about the project, highlighting its role in early childhood education and literacy development.
