Edwards Construction Group proudly announces the completion of the new culinary arts building at Solvang School’s upper campus. As the general contractor for this innovative project, we played a pivotal role in transforming the vision of a multifunctional culinary space into a reality. The school and local officials will celebrate this achievement with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m., marking a significant addition to the educational facilities of the school.

The culinary arts building, conceptualized and built with students’ needs in mind, serves a dual purpose. It not only provides middle schoolers with a free morning nutrition snack and hot lunch but also doubles as a classroom. The building’s industrial kitchen is a modern educational space where students interested in culinary arts can learn valuable skills and explore career pathways.

Superintendent Sierra Loughridge highlighted the students’ engagement with the new facility, noting, “students this year are already learning safe food handling, knife skills, and the basics of cooking through a cultural cuisine course which celebrates the diverse cuisine found throughout Latin America.” This statement underscores the building’s role in enhancing practical education and cultural appreciation.

Expressing gratitude for the community support and bond funding, Loughridge also acknowledged the collaborative efforts that made this project successful. “We want to thank the community for the bond funding that made this incredible space possible,” she said, adding, “Additionally, we would like to thank our architects at RRM and our general contractor, Edwards Construction Group, for their extraordinary efforts to bring this new building to life.”
